The Dino Exhibit!

Today was so fun! Whitney and her two kids, Sloan's cousins, Carter and Charlotte came over and we had a quick lunch. We had to get energized for our big adventure to the Museum of Nature and Science to see the Dino Exhibit!! Carter is going through a HUGE Dinosaurs phase...no really, it is amazing how much he knows. He is intellectually gifted, seriously un-biased, as it is but this Dino obsession has his brains on showcase even more. He knows more names of dinosaurs than you and I combined, can say them correctly and knows if they are herbivores or carnivores. Hangout with the guy, I promise he will teach you something. Needless to say we had a blast at the museum!

The T-Rex and Carter acting like a T-Rex (please note he only has two fingers out, like T-Rex)

Carter's T-Rex in motion...if only it had audio! ;)

Some dinosaur. It was pretty cool, you could move them and they would roar\moan\bark...whatever they do.

Could barely hold still long enough to get a picture!

Twins, obviously.

Carter and the girls.

Sloan a little scared.

Mommy and Sloan. Too many distractions for this girl.

Digging for dino bones!

Whitney playing in the bubbles.

It's your worst nightmare... there are a million Shelbys!!! (pinkie always up)

Carter watching a guy throw-up. Seriously.

Whitney, Charlotte and Carter

Carter playing in the Fire Truck!

Sliding.

Not sure when they got this big or how it happened. Amazing.

Whitney dressing up Sloan and not Charlotte because "Sloan likes this sort of thing more" which is so true! She loves it and to be dressed up like a Queen to boot!

Playing in the foam blocks.

Big Carter rock climbing.

Crawling through the Ant tunnel.

Carter standing on the museum steps screaming "I love the museum!"

It was such a fun trip and so fun to see Carter get involved with the dinosaurs and watch his little mind work. Everyone did great and were troopers all day.

Side Note: And when we were leaving we saw two women with three kids each on leashes. I mean, come on, A. I think its weird. B. I think it's lazy, the maxium amount of parenting you can do is an leashes length?? C. The leashes were ugly and had these stupid ugly backpacks on them. Get a grip...or in your case, don't get a grip. (<---- hilarious joke)

Brrrrrr and Birthdays!

This week has raced past me at the speed of light! The beginning of the week Sloan and I stayed in...it was cold! Not to mention that i had already put up Sloan's Winter Wardrobe, minus a few pieces just in case. It was nice staying in, relaxing, eating homemade pizza and playing!

Sloanie playing under the Dining Table. (Please ignore the crumbs, they are her fault not mine)

Dad reading to Sloan!

Playing.

Then on Wednesday it was our Brother-in-Law, Vaughn's Birthday. So we went over to my parents to celebrate. We had so much fun playing outside, even though it was a bit chilly. Had a great home cooked meal and good conversation, per usual. Happy 32nd Vaughn!

Trying to get a good picture of me and Boner Bear.

Vaughn, Charlotte and Whitney

Whit, Mom, Char and Vaughn...by the looks on their faces I just said an awesome joke.

Carter and DV playing in the tent, luckily there was no "Boys Only" sign because Sloan was making her way in!

Whitney and Sloan "#1" Covington!

Everyone act like a T-REX!

MJ and me. :)

Getting the Jeep ready to pull down a dead bush!

"Breaker, Breaker, any takers?"

People always ask me "Does, Sloan ever cry or take a bad picture?" Yes. Here is one. She was made the Jeep drove off.

Here is another one, but here she was OVER the Jeep.

DV and Carter riding bikes.

Laughing at the dinner table- too cute.

And Happy Birthday Vaughn!!!

I was hoping to include the visit to the Museum of Nature and Science in this post, but it will have to wait, I hear Sloan waking up! I hope that everyone is enjoying the warmer weather, I know we are!

A busy, busy weekend!

It is very rare that we have a relaxing, no-event/party/shower/wedding weekend- and this weekend was no exception! Friday night we "backyarded it" with Doughs. GT's (Good Times) per usual. Then Saturday we headed to Denton to see Michael's sisters, Carrie and Mary Kay (Or Kate, or MK...I think some of my friends think Michael has 4 sisters). We hung out for awhile, Sloan played with their pet rabbit, Peanut and ran around on Jack's trampoline and LOVED it!!!!

Sloanie playing with her Uncle David!

Running as fast as she can- it was hilarious

Playing with Daddy through the Mesh.

Playing ball with Aunt Roo!

Sloan spent the night with Carrie as Michael and I had an Engagement Party to go to for some good friends, Kasie and Axel. It was at this great art gallery called 1727 in the Design District. Fun event with fun people. Aftwards we headed home and Doughs came back over again. And I made some fried green beans for a midnight treat that were delish!

Me and Michael after Kasie and Axel's Party!

My super cute shoes that I wore- love them!

Then on Sunday, I was up bright and early because I was helping throw a Sip'n'See for our friend Kerri Mejia and her new daughter, Kylee. It was a great, relaxing event and it was so good to see some of those girls that I never get to see. I only took one picture there, it is of the Mejia Family...Ethan was not wanting his picture taken!
The Mejias- showing of precious Baby Kylee!

Then we came home and rested the rest of the day.....A busy, busy, busy weekend but a great one!

Yard Games

I have no doubt that Sloan is Michael's daughter, besides the obvious reason (sex). She has so many qualities, quirks, faces, interests etc. that Michael does-- it is bizarre. Yesterday we were in the backyard enjoying the weather and Sloan proved once again she is definitely Michael's daughter.

If you have every been to our house you know that we, namely Michael, love to play games- especially yard games. Any kind of yard game...as long as it is a game in a yard. It can be a real game like bocce ball, croquet, football or it can be a made up game (in true Covington fashion) like "Who-ever-throws-the-Croquet-ball-through-the-2nd-and-3rd-tree-against-that-fence-line-and-it-doesn't-bounce-back-pass-the-hammock-wins"game.

So yesterday Sloan proved that she loves yard games just like her Daddy.

Sloan is setting up the Croquet Court, mentally preparing for a tough game!

Exhausted after a defeating game. Daddy shows no mercy... he allows no handicaps for babies.

The come back! Sloan beats Michael in an intense game of Corn Hole!

And lastly a quick game of football!

There will be many days filled with yard games in Sloan's life. But, Sloan will know the true pleasure of yard games once she is able to have the perfect companion to go with them, a nice cold beer. :)

Spring has Sprung!

It is here, it is here! Spring has finally arrived. As Texans we wait for several, or two, months for our dreadful winter to end and it has! Tulips are blooming, the weather is in the 70's and 80's, you switch from red wine to white wine, you bare your pasty legs for the first time in months and the time you spend outdoors multiplies! We "backyard" it all the time here, year round, but now it is warm enough for Sloanie Baloanie to enjoy...Her first Spring!!!

To celebrate Spring we had a play date with our awesome cousins, Carter and Charlotte. We had a picnic in the backyard, played with all sorts of sporting equipment (Thanks, Cov) and broke in Sloan's new Water/Sand Table- they had a blast!

Carter setting up the wickets for Croquet!

Charlotte confusing a shovel for a fork!

Sloan holding the shovel but just shoveling sand into her mouth her her hand!

Her Mama's girl! Loves playing with my Diet Coke bottles.

When Spring has Sprung in our group friends that means get ready for a Birthday Marathon frenzy...I swear most of our friends were born in between March and May- it is bizarre. So, we just recently celebrated Spencer's 30th Birthday at the Elbow Room. It was a super fun and beautiful spring night. It was like circa 2006 when everyone was kid free....ahhh, memories...here are a few pics...

Group shot, well part of the group... and only Whitney and Sara were looking. Thumbs-Up are coming back! 2011 is the year of the Thumbs-Up!

Book Club ladies! Whitney, Emily, Ashley,  Me, Sara and Jessica. Might I add that Sara's hair has some nice volume working for it!

The Birthday Boy, Spencer, and the arm of his better half, Emily!

Team Harris!

Me and Michael at home...after a few. :)

Michael trying to keep my cocked eyebrow down! You can't tame the beast!

So, I hope that everyone is enjoying the beginnings of Spring as much as we are! Just go outside before it gets too hot!
