Who's 2?? Sloan's 2!

I was lucky enough to be able to spend over a week in Dallas at the beginning of May, it was just what I needed! This 'transistion' if you will, is much harder than I had anticipated so I was grateful to be back in Dallas- where I belong! Hopefully it is just the pregnancy hormones that are making it so hard and that after I deliver I come to welcome Houston with open arms.... I'm sure having a newborn while knowing no one in this city will have that effect on me. Okay, enough of that- I really am trying to be positive about it, its just so hard.

So, I was home for a week and was able to get in playdates for Sloan, lunch dates and dinner dates for myself. It was SO NICE being back home and around friends and family! And we had a Dr. appt and all went well with that, so that is great too!

Michael joined me for the tail end of our trip so we could celebrate Sloan's 2nd birthday with a small group of family and friends. It was great! Sloan is so amazing now. She has the best personality and is so full of life. She is hilarious. She loved all the attention, the presents, the cakes, the candles...EVERYTHING! Infact, almost two weeks later, she still says Happy Birthday every night when we put her down!

After the party some of our close friends stayed at my parents house and hung out in the backyard until the wee hours of the night. Old School style with Covington made-up yard games, sitting in the lawn having some drinks, (I was drinking water) and laughing. It was wonderful. I miss doing that every weekend so much.

The next morning we had breakfast with my family to celebrate Michael's birthday while we were in town, it was delish. Then we had to pack up and head back to Houston.

So, even though it is like a mean little tease being back in Dallas, it was great being back in Dallas with friends and family to celebrate Sloan and Michael.

Here are some pictures from the weekend!

Carter kissing Sloan!

We are BOTH excited!

Loving her new Dora!

Riding Daddy's bike that we restored from when he was a kid!

So sweet- Daddy and Sloan

Dallas Weekend

So, we were in Dallas this last weekend for some of our dear friend's wedding, Kacy and Taylor. Michael was a groomsmen in the wedding so it was a weekend full of events which was great!  The weekend didnt start out so great... we were leaving town Thursday night after Michael got off work (so he could make an early Friday morning Tee Time, of course) and on his way home his car broke down. AWESOME! So, tow truck came, drop off at the dealership and we picked him up and headed out! We got to Dallas around 11:00, so it wasnt too bad- just glad to be there!

Michael played golf Friday, My mom, Sloan and I just ran some errands and went shopping. Friday was the Rehearsal Dinner which was really fun. It was at Sammy's BBQ in uptown and the food was delish as was the company. Michael wasnt feeling well AT ALL so he went home really early in hopes of feeling better the next day for the wedding.  The next day we headed out to Denton to catch our nephew's baseball game. It was a gorgeous day and even though they lost it was fun.  That night was the wedding.  It was at Hickory Street Annex, which is a great space. It was really nice and Kacy looked stunning, of course.  The wedding was super fun. And the band kept complimenting the crowd saying how awesome everyone was. Everyone was dancing ALL night but I dont think anyone would expect anything less at Taylor's wedding!  After the wedding we went to the Doublewide and at about 1:00 this pregnant Mom could stay up no longer!

The next day my Whitney, Vaughn and the kids came over for lunch and an Easter Egg hunt. It was good to see them and the kids just love hanging out with each other! Then we headed back to Houston!

So here are some pics from the weekend.

So, there are some pictures! It was son ice to be home, still adjusting to the fact that I dont live there. It has only been a month and I know that it will get better and I am sure that Houston will start to feel more like home, hopefully!  Anywho, a busy week at the Covingtons the first Tiff's Treats opens this Saturday!!

Movers from Hell!

Sorry, I know I promised that I would blog more. I am still quite unsure as to why I made that promise right before we were moving across the state.  Anywho, we have landed in Houston. I feel like there is a lot to share so I might do it over a few posts. Maybe not. I am unsure about it, or anything... including what I am going to type next.

So, we hired movers for our move and everything seemed okay. They came out did a free estimate and a confirmed price, which was great. I had a few questions between when he came out and the actual move was scheduled, they were pretty slow on response, sometimes didn't even respond until I asked them again. This should have been the first sign of their level of customer service.

So, moving day arrives and I am out dropping Sloan off at my parents and picking up breakfast. When I get back I see the moves are there, "Awesome!" I think. Then Michael comes up to me and tells me that the drivers were informed that it was a next day delivery.... SAY WHAT?  They say they need a tire changed and don't have fuel and are not prepared to make a same day delivery! I confirmed TWICE that it was a same day delivery with confirmation in writing and with an estimated arrival time. I was beyond pissed. So, the drivers call their dispatch people and they say they are going to try and do it today but it will add at least 2 hours on to the trip, putting them in Houston around 6:00. Sucks, but better then nothing.

So, the move is going on and I randomly check my email and I get an email from my rep, Brad, (an email?!? My move is going on as we speak and you are emailing me? Pick up the effing phone, jack hole) saying that it will most likely be tomorrow not today.  SAY WHAT? Cause I was told otherwise. So, I call Brad and I promise you, never in my life have I spoken with someone as soulless as this person. He did not care at all. He never said it was his fault or that his drivers were misinformed or that there was anything they could do. It was awful, like talking to a bump on a log. Finally after my yelling started, he said fine, it would be done to day.

So, I'm pissed, I cant take it anymore and I head on out to Houston with Sloan. Brad calls me at 2:00 saying they have left Dallas. I think great! Things are turning around!  Then Michael and I chat on the phone, I tell him to call the driver in a couple hours to make sure they are making good progress.... Michael calls the drivers at 4:30 and they say they are just now leaving Dallas. SAY WHAT? So, Dingle Berry Brad just straight up lied to me. So, at this point there is no way that they would get here until around 8:30. Awesome.

So, we are trying to move forward and around 8:00 we call to see where they are...and now they wont be here until 10:00. Seriously. Seriously. Okay, at this point I am crying sitting on the living room floor of our empty house. I tell Michael to call them and tell them to come in the morning. AS much as I wanted all of my stuff that night, I don't really want to be moving into a new neighborhood until 2:00 AM- not the kind of impression I am looking for.

So, needless to say- it was a very hectic, awful day. Moving is so stressful and this just made it so much worse. Our stuff arrived at 6:00 am the next morning and I was glad to have it over with and to never have to deal with this HORRIBLE company again!

People, NEVER USE AARON'S MOVERS! EVER! They are horrible, rude and liars.

Had to get that out there. I will post a more positive, fun picture in a few days with pictures.!

2 month hiatus... sorry!

Sooo.... I promised I would be better at blogging and I was at least for a little bit! I have simply just lost track of time! Today, I just uploaded my pictures from Christmas if that makes you feel better.

Sloan is crazy as ever and a pure joy to be around. She throws caution to the wind and is unbelievably physical. I pretty sure her shins will be bruises for the next decade and now, BOTH of her two front teeth are chipped- luckily she will get some new ones in a few years! We have been enjoying the incredibly mild winter we are having in Texas! Now, my focus is shifting to us moving- the time has come. I still haven't found a house to rent but, we will be moving sometime in the next 4 weeks. Should be interesting!

Here are a few pictures from the last two months of our little covey!

Trying to get a descent picture on Christmas night...

She is crazy!

And a family shot, at least she's looking at the camera!

My family, Dad, Mom, Whit, Vaughn, Carter, Charlotte, Sloan, MC and me

Best one there was!

Me and Whitney on New Year's Eve!

Spencer, Eric and Michael

Having fun in the Bounce House!

Carter's 4th Birthday! Time is flying by!

Jack got a Go-Kart for Christmas, he was so excited!

Chatting away on the phone, and it begins.

So, there is a small snapshot in to what we have been doing. I promise I will be better about blogging. I need to be especially since we are moving soon! So, here is to posting soon!
